Our Story
"My kids were Montessori educated before we left, and they loved school. When we got on the road, we couldn't find anything they liked or were engaged with. And as a parent, I knew they were learning — you can't travel Australia and not learn — but I had no idea whether they were behind or not. So I built Roamschool. My kids actually love it and are excited to do it each day."
When we decided to travel Australia, we were excited about the adventures ahead but anxious about our children's education. Distance education required rigid schedules and reliable internet, which we rarely had. Traditional homeschooling required us to become full-time teachers and curriculum experts overnight.
We wanted something different. We wanted our kids to learn from the journey, not just alongside it. We wanted a curriculum that was rigorous enough to meet state requirements, but flexible enough to accommodate a spontaneous detour to a national park.
Combining Montessori principles of self-directed learning with the Australian Curriculum, and powered by AI to provide personalized tutoring, Roamschool is designed specifically for the realities of life on the road.
